The Emmy nominations took place in LA today with announcers Kerry Washington and Jimmy Kimmel. After a few jokes about the early hour of the announcement, Kerry and Jimmy got down to business. There were plenty of surprises. Downton Abbey got lots of love with a best drama series nod, and lead actors Hugh Bonneville and Michelle Dockery were also acknowledged for their acting. HBO's new comedies were a hit, with Veep and Girls getting best comedy series nods and nominations for their respective leading ladies, Julia-Louis Dreyfus and Lena Dunham.
