1. Christmas: This will be on the top of the list until, well, Christmas. It might seem obvious to write about Christmas in November, but get cracking on it early -- searches for Christmas start to take off in the first week of November, peaking (unsurprisingly) the week of Christmas and dramatically dropping off shortly after.
2. Wine: For many, the holidays are a time of merrymaking, and one of the typical ingredients of merrymaking is wine. (It’s a great Christmas gift, too.) Searches for wine start to take off the last week of October, and experience and second surge in interest the first week of December, peaking at Christmas.
3. Diets: Searches for diets experience a very steep decline in November and December, but that holiday eating takes its toll! Diet searches experience a sharp uptick right after Christmas, but it’s a short one -- with searches for diets dropping again until Valentine’s Day, after which they experience a short uplift in popularity (too many candy hearts?).
4. Super Bowl: This one can be huge! Super Bowl searches start to take off in early January, with a massive spike in early February (and an equally sharp decline).
5. Sundance: For arts writers, this one’s a must. Searches for the indie film festival start to rise in late December, peaking in mid-late January.
